The Bryan House is a Victorian bungalow located just "two stone throws" from Lake Superior in the stylish residential district of one of nicest communities on the North Shore. Henry S. Bryan, the founder, and first President of 3M Company had the house designed in 1901 and construction was complete in 1904.

You enter the Bryan House through a glassed in foyer into the spacious living room which has a beamed ceiling and a massive fireplace. Furnished in the tradition of the early 1900's the living room is a comfortable place to while away the time.

The music room adjoins the living room where guest can enjoy the antique piano and the phonograph music from the wind up "talking machine". Just off the music room is the sun room where guests are invited to enjoy the coffee which is available all day long. This is where the guests gather in the morning to have coffee, fruit juice and muffins before breakfast.

Breakfast is served in the formal dining room and features "Pannukakkua" (Finnish Oven baked pancake) as well as zesty "scrambled eggs parmesan", "eggs benedict supreme" and a slice of "shorebird nest".

There are three bedrooms available:

The Bryan Room is a large pleasant master bedroom with two dormers creating unique nooks. The turn of the century furniture, quilts and lace curtains are reminders of the "olden days". A bath is shared with the Millicent room.

The Millicent Room is a spacious room with a dormer overlooking Lakeview Park. The room is furnished and decorated for a lady and was named after the "Grandam of Two Harbors". The bath is across the hall and shared with the Bryan room.

The Library room has heavy woodwork and is very masculine in its decor. The double bed and other furnishings are Eastlake style. It is secluded from the rest of the house by a hallway and has an adjoining bath. This is a favorite room of "getaway" couples.

Distinctive Features:

All points of interest in Two Harbors, museums, lighthouse, ore docks, harbor, etc. Are within easy walking distance of the Bryan House.
In an old-fashioned park there is an old-fashioned band stand where every Thursday evening that is above freezing an old-fashioned city band plays a concert to an old-fashioned crowd of people Just four city blocks from the Bryan House and at least 60 years from 1997.
Try two stone throws and you will be on the shoreline where there is a secluded (although public) beach, where you can sit in silence, just you and a few curious seagulls. A very nice place for an evening weenie roast.
Fudge . . . try to find a room in the Bryan House where there is not a dish of fantastic fudge. The innkeepers have a penchant for making fudge and the guests are the winners. Indulge yourselves.
Complimentary wine for our guests. Not a product of the Rhine Valley, but a nice quiet enjoyable wine.
