Villa Serena Bed and Breakfast is found in coastal San Diego, California. We are in close, central proximity to most convention sites, tourist attractions (Sea World & historic Old Town are 5 minutes away), Pt. Loma, beaches, sailing, tennis and golf courses. Bus stop nearby takes approximately15-20 minutes to reach Convention center. Shopping, markets, restaurants, theaters etc., are approximately 5-1 0 minutes away from us, as is the San Diego International airport. Average temperature is 70 degrees.

Villa Serena Bed & Breakfast is a two-story Mediterranean style Italian villa with Old World charm and hospitality, gentle breezes, swaying palms, tropical gardens, fish ponds, large pool and a delightfully relaxing spa, all set in an oasis of beauty, tranquility & friendliness.

Guest quarters are light, bright and comfortable in traditional colors. The Portofino Garden Suite has a queen size bed, private bath,fireplace,view and door leading to the garden. It is our family suite as it has a sitting room with a queen size Murphy bed. There is a pocket door that separates the two. The colors are Peach with a floral comforter. There is no charge for children under 12 in this suite. The Sorrento Room has a queen size bed, double bed and private bath. It has a refrigerator for snacks. The colors are Sage green and Burgundy with a floral comforter. It has a city view. The Capri Room has two queen size beds, private bath, fireplace and balcony overlooking the garden. It has a city view. The colors are Buttercup yellow with a floral pattern on the comforter. The Portofino and Sorrento/Capri suites are both suitable for romance and privacy.

Amenities include fireplace in living room, TV/VCR, access to microwave & refrigerator for light snacks etc. Beverages and treats are available. Laundry, ironing board, robes & hair dryer are offered for use. Off street parking is provided. All rooms have ceiling fans. Games, books and magazines are for guests' enjoyment, telephone (no surcharge) and some business services.

Smoking is not permitted in the house, but allowed in the garden. No lifeguard on duty, and parents are responsible for children. Children’s games, toys & videos available.10 min to Zoo.

Owners live on site in bonus quarters beyond the pool area. Kae & Alex delight in sharing their home and consider it a privilege to serve you. We have 3 outside kitty kats. We are also available to help with directions, suggestions, reservations, and making special occasions more special. (A personal concierge!!) Reminder, bring clothes to layer for our climate. It can get nippy.

Rates: 

Portofino Garden Suite-$120.00 (1-2) U.S. plus the hotel tax of 10.5% and includes breakfast. Adults over 12 in the family suite using the Murphy bed are an extra $25.00 per night per person plus hotel tax.

The Sorrento Room-$120.00 (1-2) U.S. plus the hotel tax of 10.5% and includes breakfast. Adults over 12 in the Sorrento room are an extra $25.00 per night per person plus the hotel tax.

The Capri Room-$150.00 per night plus the hotel tax of 10.5% and includes breakfast. Adults over 12 in the Capri room are an extra $25.00 per night per person plus the hotel tax of 10.5%

The rate to rent the entire house is $380.00 per night plus tax. We sleep six adults with 3+ bedrooms and 4 baths.

We honor per diem of single travelers when paid with a government, state or business credit card and/or authorization papers. We have lap top hook-ups, fax,copier etc for business use. Ask me about specifics. Ask about our weekly rates.

We take Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express.

We have some off-street parking. We have 3 rooms with 2 off street spaces.

We have 4 indoor-outdoor kitty kats. If you walk into a friends house and get itchy, it would be the same with us. So, if you are allergic you might reconsider staying here, or take Claritin. If however, you love cats, then you get to meet Bo, Simba, Tommy and Midnight. I can't guarantee it but, we'll try to get them to be hospitable

We have a 2-day minimum stay.

An Expanded Continental Breakfast Plus is self-served 8a.m.-10.00 a.m. It includes, breads, muffins, fruits, juice, coffee, tea, yogurt + more goodies. It's for the comfort of leisure guests who wish to have more flexibility. You may want to sleep in or get up early and go play.

If you want to eat before 8a.m. or after 10a.m. then the kitchen in open for you to help yourself. From 8-10a.m. I will be available to sit and chat about your plans for the day and give directions or answer questions.

If you rent the whole house, then a full family breakfast is included where you all sit down together and I serve you. An example of this would be, Blueberry pancakes, sausage if you want, fruit, juice, coffee (Fresh ground) or teas etc.

Directions:

Take Hiway 5 South to Rosecrans exit. Continue West approximately 1.5 mi. We are on the right side of the street, between Voltaire and Udall Street. Look for a two-story terracotta colored house with palm trees in the front. We have 2 coachlights lit at night. 

From Hiway 15 South, take Route 163 South to the Hiway 8 exit, continue 8 West to the Rosecrans exit. Follow Rosecrans for approx. 1.5 miles. Look for a two-story terracotta colored house with palm trees in the front We are located between Voltaire St. and Udall St. 

From the Airport car rental companies Avis, Hertz, National etc. At the traffic light when you leave, turn left and head for Point Loma North on Harbor Drive. Sign may say Americas Cup Harbor Drive to Nimitz Dr. Turn right on Nimitz. Keep going until you reach Rosencrans St Turn right on Rosecrans Street (By Von's Market). Go approximately 8 blocks. We are on the left side of the street between Udall St. and Voltaire St. It is a two-story terracotta colored house with palm trees in the front. Should take around 5 minutes to reach Villa Serena. Park in driveway or on Udall St. 

From Car rental companies such as Alamo & Dollar you will be on Pacific Hiway. When you leave the parking lot, head North on Pacific Hiway. Take the Barnett exit. Go West on Barnett until you reach Lytton St Barnett turns into Lytton. Continue to Rosecrans Street. Turn left on Rosecrans St. Go approximately 1 mi. to 2164 Rosecrans St. We are on the right side of the street. A two-story terracotta colored house with palm trees in the front. 

From 5 North take the Pacific Hiway exit. Get off at the Barnett exit. Continue on Barnett until you get to Lytton St. Take Lytton to Rosecrans St. Turn left on Rosecrans Street. Continue to 2164 Rosecrans St. between Voltaire St and Udall on the right.

From Downtown San Diego, take Harbor Drive North past the airport to Nimitz. Turn right on Nimitz. Continue to Rosencrans. Von's market is on the comer. Turn right on Rosecrans. Go approximately 8 blocks to 2164 Rosencrans St. between Udall and Voltaire on the left. 

From Seaworld Dr. Take Nimitz Blvd to Rosecrans (Von's market), turn left, go to our house between Udall and Voltaire. Park in driveway.
